Baxter County Clerk and Circuit Clerk Records

Baxter County is one of only 14 Arkansas counties where the County Clerk and Circuit Clerk positions are combined into one office. Clerk: Canda Reese. Address: 1 East 7th Street, Suite 103, Mountain Home, AR 72653. Phone: (870) 425-3475. Email: canda.reese@baxtercounty.org. Office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This combined office maintains court records for civil, criminal, probate, and juvenile cases in the 14th Judicial District. It also handles marriage licenses, voter registration, property records as ex-officio recorder, and Quorum Court records. That means you only have to visit one office for many different types of public records. Court records are searchable for free through the statewide CourtConnect portal at caseinfo.arcourts.gov.

Copy fees are standard for Arkansas: $0.25 per page for regular copies, $5.00 for the first certified page, and $0.50 for each additional certified page. The office accepts cash, personal checks, cashier's checks, and money orders. Credit cards are NOT accepted for vital records requests. The important thing to know is that no appointment is needed for most vital records requests.

Marriage licenses in Baxter County require a 72-hour waiting period, which is different from most other Arkansas counties. A judge may waive the waiting period. Both parties must appear in person with a valid government-issued photo ID and social security card. The fee is $60.00. Licenses are valid for 60 days from issuance. No blood test is required. A birth certificate is needed if either party is under 21 years old.

Land records maintained by this office include deeds, mortgages, liens, and easements as ex-officio recorder. Recording fees are $15.00 for the first page and $5.00 per additional page. Real property transfer tax is $3.30 per $1,000 of consideration on transactions over $100. All documents must be on 8.5" x 11" paper with a 2.5" top margin, properly notarized, and must include the preparer's name and address.

Note: Baxter County's combined clerk position is relatively uncommon in Arkansas, so both court and vital records are available from the same office at the same address.
