Searcy County experienced significant record losses due to courthouse fires. Records were destroyed in January 1864, partially destroyed in March 1877, and destroyed again in August 1885. All records prior to 1881 are missing except deed record A, one chancery court record, one probate court record, and one circuit court record. This is important to know before searching for older records.

Records available from this office include marriage records from 1881 to present, probate records from 1881, circuit court records from 1881, and land records from 1866. Court records cover civil cases, criminal histories, domestic relations filings, and juvenile files. Divorce records maintained among equity records go back to pre-1950; post-1950 divorces are held at the Arkansas Department of Public Health. Marriage licenses cost $60.00. Both parties must appear with valid ID. Certified copies of marriage records are $5.00 to $6.00. Probate filings include decedent estates, adoptions, and guardianships. Adoption records are sealed under state law.

Land records available include warranty deeds, quit claim deeds, mortgages and deeds of trust, liens (mechanic's, judgment, federal tax), lis pendens, judgments, subdivision plats, and easements and rights-of-way. Recording fees are $15.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page. Two-sided documents count as two pages.
