County Clerk and Probate Records
The Faulkner County County Clerk is Margaret Darter. The office is at 801 Locust Ave. in Conway. Phone: 501-450-4909. Fax: 501-450-4938. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (holidays excluded). The Clerk serves as official bookkeeper of county government, clerk for county and probate courts, and secretary of the Board of Equalization.
Marriage licenses cost $60.00, cash only (no personal checks accepted). Debit and credit cards are accepted with a processing fee. Both parties must appear in person with photo ID. Applicants ages 18 to 21 also need a birth certificate. Applicants who are 17 need both parents present with custody papers and face a five-day waiting period. Licenses are valid for 60 days. Personal property assessment runs from January 1st through May 31st. Residents can assess in person, by phone, by mail, or by fax. Commercial personal property cannot be assessed by phone; forms must be signed and submitted. The 10% late penalty applies to all property not assessed by May 31st. The county reappraises real property every four years, with the current cycle completing in 2028. Homestead credits under Amendment 79 provide up to $600 on primary residence taxes and must be applied for by October 15th. Owners who are 65 and older or who are totally disabled may qualify for a taxable value freeze on their home.
